The
History of Angel Food Ministires
|
In
1994, Pastors Joe and Linda Wingo found their hearts going out to the
families of many of the local families in Monroe, GA, affected by the
recent industrial plant closings. On their back porch, the first Angel
Food distribution fed 34 families. Over the next years, other churches
wanted to be get involved, and Angel Food began feeding hundreds of families
across the southeast. Now, Angel Food feeds over 500,000 families a month
in 35 states. Praise the Lord for his faithfulness! |
Meet
The Founders... Pastors Joseph & Linda Wingo |
Founder
and CEO
Angel Food Ministries
Joseph Wingo is the CEO of Angel Food Ministries, which he co-founded
with his wife, Linda, in 1994. Angel Food Ministries is cutting-edge in
the food-relief industry. By purchasing top quality food at deep volume
discounts, and passing the savings directly to the consumer, Angel Food
is providing much-needed nutrition to more than 500,000 families with
food insecurities each month.
No doubt, the values and integrity instilled in Joe as the child of a
minister, his education in business and ministry, and his knowledge and
experience in business practices have proven invaluable in the day-to-day
operations and logistics of Angel Food Ministries. But it’s his
heart of compassion that has caused Angel Food to flourish.
Joe Wingo’s mission is to provide hope and a hand up to people in
need.
Angel Food Ministries has been structured to help any and all who desire
to participate. Not only do individuals benefit from the program but churches
and organizations that become distribution host sites benefit in many
ways as well.
The Wingos live in the rolling hills of Georgia. Joe and Linda also pastor
Emmanuel Praise Church in Good Hope. They have been married more than
38 years. Their two adult children work with them in ministry. They have
two grandchildren.

Founder
Angel Food Ministries
Linda Wingo is a remarkable woman. As a wife, mother, co-founder of Angel
Food Ministries, and a senior pastor of Emmanuel Praise Church, she is
a tower of strength to her family, a powerhouse of prayer to her congregation,
and she teaches and preaches the Word of God with great clarity.
Raised in the small town of Lawrenceville, Georgia, by loving parents,
Linda Wingo had a happy childhood. Her mother taught her at an early age
the importance of helping others. It’s something Linda has done
all her life. It is obvious to all who know her that Linda Wingo lives
what she believes.
The profound truths Pastor Linda shares from the pulpit and the heartfelt
compassion she extends to others in prayer have been forged during her
years of experience with God. Even in the midst of tremendous tragedy,
Linda knows there can be triumph in God.
In 1976, after 7 years of marriage, Joe and Linda’s world spiraled
out of control when their youngest child, Chris, suddenly died from bacterial
meningitis. He was only 14 months old. This loss affected Linda’s
entire family deeply. Only by connecting with God in a remarkable way
were they able to overcome those dark and difficult days.
Because Linda’s life has been dramatically touched by the transforming
power of God’s Word, she willingly extends compassion to the hurting
and gladly prays for those in need of healing—both emotionally and
physically. She’s also quick to encourage others to find the plan
of God and “go for it.”
“The Bible assures that God has ‘plans to prosper you and
not to harm you,’ ” she says. “He has ‘plans to
give you hope and a future’ ” (Jeremiah 29:11).
Linda Wingo is especially passionate about this scripture because she
has lived it. She and Joe stepped into the plan of God when they founded
Angel Food Ministries. Linda provided the prayer support and administrative
help while Joe pioneered the way. Together Joe and Linda Wingo have been,
and still are determined to reach out and help those in need. They would
both tell you that the success of Angel Food has taken a team effort.
Joe readily says with adoration, “I wouldn’t be where I am
today if it weren’t for Linda.”
Joe and Linda Wingo have been married 38 years. They live in Monroe, Georgia;
have two grown children who work with them in the ministry, and two grandchildren.
